Hi A- Kathy C. said you might know about a foolproof, versatile DVD ripper that doesn't take a geek to understand? I need to rip public domain DVDs into a format that will import to Premiere Pro 1.5...so AVI, MPG, etc. I would like a nice, turnkey solution, not the hodgepodge of different utilities that I have been trying to my immense frustration. I am using SmartRipper and Premiere refuses to import the MPG I made from VOB2MPG...you get the idea. Arrow CRP, Arlington Community Media Inc. www.worldlanguagenetwork.org

Yep, DVD junior's integrator needs to be used to do this...
The only issue is the audio, whether the audio can be read from the DVD-
the audio needs to be PCM or MPEG-2. If the audio is Dolby digital there is a problem, then you might have to find a ripper which will grab the audio as dolby digital and decode it to 6 channels (or 2 channels) of sound.
check out the DVD Hell Page I have posted here...

This will pretty much walk you through the process...
You basically re-combine the 5 VOB files into a single VOB file.
YOu then can change the extension to *.mpg and it will import into
Vegas Video, and I think Premiere as well.
I hope this helps!!!
I have been there and gotten NOWHERE with those Hodge Podge utilities...
most of them never work.
I will see about getting a copy for you to use of this utility...
Oh yeah, by the way, if you didn't use this utility the audio would have been missing, and the files would be like 30 seconds or something...
Premiere won't import them without this utility...

Tightrope Media systems has a good DVD ripper that works
with their carousel / cablecast server.
It works quite well...!!
